Our Story
Jessica & Austin
A story that began with a familiar face, a rock-climbing date, and a prayer before dinner.
Jessica and Austin's story began at UNT's Discovery Park when Austin told Jessica she looked familiar, even though they had never met. Somehow, the line worked. After realizing they attended the same church, Austin asked her on a rock-climbing date that quickly turned into an entire day together. When he asked to pray before their meal, Jessica knew there was something special about him.
They soon became inseparable, bonding over their faith, workouts, movie nights, late-night conversations, and the exact same sense of humor. On October 3, 2025, Austin officially asked Jessica to be his girlfriend with flowers, a card, and a heartfelt speech delivered to her Ring doorbell. Unfortunately, Jessica did not pay for the recording subscription, so the speech was lost forever. Thankfully, she still said yes.
Austin later proposed at the Dallas Arboretum by reading Jessica a beautiful poem before getting down on one knee. With her best friend secretly capturing the moment and a surprise engagement party waiting afterward, it was more perfect than she could have imagined.
Jessica and Austin feel incredibly blessed to have found their best friend in one another and cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of forever with all the people they love most.
The Start of Forever?
The poem Austin read before he proposed.
On my way to class, you caught my eye,
I walked to your table and gave it a try.
The right girl, it seemed, at the wrong time.
Two years went by, others said hi.
I met a few, and said goodbye.
Lots of family, lots of friends,
so long my dad even joined a band.
Through all the people that came and went,
I still hadn't found who Heaven sent.
Then a sparkle of light lit up my glass,
a little hello from a distant past.
A message appeared, and I began to laugh,
could my future girl really come from my past?
Two years later, we finally got our chance,
rock climbing together, the start of our romance.
I didn't know then, how our love would grow,
or how brightly you'd light up my life,
It's far more than I could ever know.
The One above had a better plan,
and all along, my life was in His hand.
What I thought I'd missed wasn't gone at all.
God was just waiting for the right time to call.
And from that first date, look where we've been.
I'd wait those years all over again.
You light up my life in a way no one knew,
and somehow each day I fall more for you.
Because every wrong turn, every laugh, every tear,
somehow led me to standing right here.
I prayed for you, and you prayed for me,
while God already knew what we couldn't see.
He smiled knowing, before we ever knew,
my name was written right next to you.
And now there's only one thing left to do,
get down on one knee and ask this of you...
Jess, will you marry me?
